Quick Install

Run these commands on your target VM:

# On the build server
python3 mint-link.py

# On the device, use the two curl lines that command printed, then:
sha256sum -c pitch-black-device-latest.tar.gz.sha256
tar -xzf pitch-black-device-latest.tar.gz
cd pitch-black-device
sudo ./scripts/setup-from-tar.sh

Manual Setup Steps

1. Download the tarball

   Use curl or wget to download to your target VM.

2. Extract the archive

   Run tar -xzf pitch-black-device-latest.tar.gz

3. Run install script

   Execute sudo ./install.sh from the extracted folder.

4. Initialize database

   Start the DB service: sudo systemctl start pitch-black-db

5. Create operator account

   Run: sudo python3 /opt/pitch-black/scripts/init-operator.py

6. Start all services

   Enable and start services as shown in the install output.

7. Verify UI

   Access http://localhost:3000 and login with operator credentials.

System Requirements

• Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or compatible
• Python 3.10+
• Node.js 20+ (for web UI build)
• Root access for bridge/network configuration
• Two network interfaces (for bridge mode)
